Trainee Investigator Programme

The SIU is committed to providing it clients with quality forensic investigation services. In order to achieve this, the SIU has developed a specialised training programme. The Trainee Investigator Programme is an intensive skills development programme that includes theoretical and practical components for prospective investigators. This programme was first launched on 1 August 2003.

The average period to develop a seasoned forensic investigator is approximately three to six years. The SIU programme utilises a methodology that will shorten this time significantly. It is designed to deliver trained investigators within twelve months who are geared to conduct quality investigations independently.

The programme is further enhanced by experienced mentors who assist the trainees in developing their skills. Due to the rapid growth and development in the SIU, the programme is being expanded significantly to train about 60 trainees per year.
