Mr Leonard Gaoretelelwe Lekgetho is a dedicated public servant, investigator, and leader whose career has been shaped by a deep commitment to justice, integrity, and service. Appointed Acting Head of the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) on 1 February 2026 by the President of South Africa, he now leads South Africa’s flagship anti-corruption agency with a clear vision: to protect public resources and restore trust in state institutions. Mr Lekgetho earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North West, followed by a B.Sc. Honours in Geographic Information Systems from the aforementioned institution. His passion for law and accountability led him to complete an LLB through the University of South Africa, rounding out a rich academic portfolio that also includes Postgraduate Diplomas in Criminal Justice, Cyber Law, and advanced project management.
